After a two week weather delay, Cumberland Medical Center physicians, along with area physicians, hosted a free sports physical clinic on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Cumberland Physician Group. One hundred seven area high school and elementary children accompanied by their parents took advantage of the event. Volunteers from CMC, Cumberland Physician Group, Crossville Medical Group, LMU Medical Students and Dr. Anthony Wilson from Knoxville donated their Saturday to help families of Cumberland County. The event allowed children that would like to play sports but couldn’t afford the required sports physical an opportunity to do so.
CMC and the Coordinated School Health/Cumberland County School System would like to thank the participants, volunteers and the leadership and direction of Dr. James Barnawell and Dr. Mark Fox. Through a partnership, they plan to keep area kids active, healthy and encouraged through future events and community-wide activities. The next free sports physical is planned for May 4. Appointments are required. To make an appointment please call 931-459-7181 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
