By Michael R. Moser

CROSSVILLE — A Crossville couple were placed behind bars after police investigating a shoplifting complaint discovered one was wanted as a fugitive, and the other for stealing a credit card.

Charged with theft from a vehicle and credit card fraud is Breana Goble, 22, 89 Pinewood Dr. Charged with being a fugitive from justice from the state of Missouri is Shannon Goble, 27, of the same address.

Monday police were dispatched to Kmart in the Cumberland Square shopping center off Elmore Rd. on a report of two shoplifters leaving the store and entering a green and white Saturn Vue van.

Ptl. Dustin Lester arrived on the scene and spotted the van exiting the parking lot on the West Ave. side and driving north to Pinewood Dr. where the vehicle stopped in front of an address.

The officer approached the vehicle and started questioning the suspects, asking for a receipt for items they said they had purchased at Kmart. He noticed on the receipt that a credit card had been used to make purchases and asked to see the credit card, but the female suspect said she could not find it.

The officer then asked for consent to search the vehicle at which time a credit card in the name of Thelma Haney was handed to the officer. Haney was contacted and told police that the credit card had been stolen.

Breana Goble was taken into custody and a resulting check revealed that a warrant for Shannon Goble's arrest was active from Missouri, and he was also taken into custody. The report does not say what charge Missouri authorities have against Shannon Goble.
