A pickup truck was seized by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department after deputies responding to a report of drug activity at a local car wash arrested one man on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
The incident took place at a self-serve car wash on Old Lantana Rd. around 2:35 p.m., according to Deputy Sgt. Jason Elmore's report.
Charged with felony possession of methamphetamine is Rodney Lee Bammel, 45, 921 Nameoki Circle. Bond was set at $20,000 and he is to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court on Aug. 26.
Elmore wrote in his report that he received information that a man was to travel to the car wash with meth at which time an exchange with a second person was to take place. The meth was to be exchanged for prescription pain killers, according to the report.
The deputy drove to the car wash and found Bammel washing his truck. Deputy Danny Stone deployed his drug detection K-9 around Bammel's vehicle and a black magnetic tin containing five small plastic bags containing either white powder or a crystalized substance. Weight of the contraband was reported at two grams.
As a result of the arrest, Bammel's pickup was seized at the scene.
