Suspects charged in auto theft

CROSSVILLE — A tip from a theft victim led Crossville Police to two local men who were arrested for stealing the vehicle in which they were traveling, stealing a license plate and drug possession, according to reports.

Richard Aaron Flowers, 24, 28 Baker Lane, is charged with auto theft, theft from a vehicle, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jason Leroy Daniels, 24, 32 Daniel Dr., is charged with auto theft, theft from a vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and possession of burglary tools.

The pair were arrested Tuesday after a Birchwood Lane resident witnessed the two remove the license plate from her vehicle parked at an apartment complex, and flee the area in a 1993 Ford Mustang, according to Ptl. Dustin Lester's report.

Acting on a second tip, the car and two suspects were located a short time later on Aster St. where the pair was confronted and taken into custody. It was then that officers learned the two were traveling in a vehicle that had been reported stolen from James Auto Sales on West Ave earlier Tuesday.

Police also recovered the stolen tag on the Ford vehicle, as well as tools used to commit burglaries and theft, drug paraphernalia and a clear, plastic bag containing a substance identified as meth.

Police also recovered checks that had been stolen in a burglary and theft in November.

Investigation into the pair's activities is continuing.
