Leadership Cumberland’s April 2 session, state government, was held in Nashville. Leadership Cumberland is a program of the Community Development Division and is administrated by the Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce.
A tour of the State Capitol was provided to participants by a staff member of the Tennessee State Museum; Leadership Cumberland participated in a mock session in the House of Representatives chamber which participants had to the opportunity to present bills, vote or make an argument for or against the bill; attended the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry annual meeting with Gov. Bill Haslam; a meeting with state Sen. Charlotte Burks and state Rep. Cameron Sexton; attended the House Transportation as Representative presented a bill and attended the Senate Judiciary committee as Senator Burks presented several bills before the committee.
