One Roane County resident was killed and others seriously injured in a head-on crash between two vehicles that occurred Saturday between Crossville and Crab Orchard on Hwy. 70 E, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The victim was identified as Patricia Alexander, 61, of Kingston, according to Sgt. Kevin Norris' report.
The crash occurred around 3:27 p.m. at the intersection of Lavendar Lane and involved a 2001 Saturn occupied by a mother and child, and a 2011 Chevrolet van occupied by six persons.
The Saturn, driven by Andrea Diamond, 20, Oak Ridge, was traveling east when it cross the center line and struck the van head-on, according to Norris' report. Both Diamond and her passenger, Kinsley Applegate, age not known, both of Oak Ridge, were injured.
Driver of the van, Duane Paul Alexander, 37, of Waterford, MI, and his passengers, Carl D. Alexander, 64, of Kingston, Yvonne Jean Har, 50, of West Bloomfield, MI, Olivia Har, 16, and Jack Har, 14, were all injured in the crash.
Victims had to be extricated from the van and three helicopters were called to the scene to transport the more seriously injured. Two victims were airlifted from a field near the crash site and a third was airlifted from Cumberland Medical Center later.
