By Michael R. Moser

CROSSVILLE — Crossville Police responding to a disturbance at a local motel found more than an altercation when they seized 38 bags of marijuana — 37 in small clear plastic bags — along with digital scales and $865 in cash.

Nicole Laahae Horn, 19, 528 Hubert Conley Rd., is charged with manufacture, delivery or sale of a schedule I drug, manufacture, delivery or sale of a schedule VI drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Christopher Eugene Mayer, 24, 508 Bower Rd., Cookeville, is charged with delivery or sale of a schedule I drug, manufacture and delivery or sale of a schedule VI drug.

Crossville Police last Wednesday were dispatched to the Days Inn off N. Main St. and Executive Dr. on a report of disturbance and the resulting investigation led them to a room where an argument had taken place.

Police knocked on the door and were met by a man and woman who granted them permission to search for other persons present, and to conduct a quick search for drugs, according to Ptl. Curtis Phillips’ report.

Located inside a microwave oven in the room were 37 small, plastic-packaged bags containing a substance they identified as marijuana, digital scales, money and a substance believed to be heroin.

Both suspects are to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court to answer the charges.
