Local option sales tax collections below budgeted figures

CROSSVILLE — Cumberland County Finance Director Nathan Brock reported local option sales tax collections for fiscal year 2012-'13 are $49,170 below the budgeted projections.

Brock made his report to the Cumberland County Budget Committee last week during its monthly meeting. Local option sales tax goes primarily toward the General Purpose School Fund budget.

Brock reported actual collections for the month of December were $605,888, which was $7,835 below the budgeted amount.

Property tax collections are at 56.2 percent.

Hotel/motel tax collections are at $406,186, which is 62.5 percent of the budgeted amount.

Brock also reported EMS ambulance service collections were $348,256 for December and $1.73 million for the fiscal year, which 57.8 percent of the county's budgeted amount.

Prisoner boarding collections are at $500,388 for the year, which is 55.8 percent of the budgeted amount, Brock reported.

Brock gives a monthly report of tax and revenue collections to the committee and the full county commission in order to track the revenue of the county's current fiscal year budget.
