Parolee arrested at drug sale scene

CROSSVILLE — A Lake Tansi man was taken into custody on a parole violation and other charges after police on routine patrol stumbled onto what they believed to be an illegal drug transaction.

The incident took place Dec. 5 in the area of Hwy. 127 N near the Motel 6 and Sunrise Shell station, according to Ptl. Dustin Lester's report.

Brian Corey Rector, 27, 27 Squaw Path, was arrested on outstanding warrants of parole violation, theft and a new charge of evading arrest. A 36-year-old Peavine Rd. woman was questioned at the scene and charges are pending against her.

Lester wrote he was on routine patrol when he spotted a white Nissan truck and a red Mazda car parked together. After spotting his patrol car, passengers in the pickup truck quickly exited and attempted to get into the car. Lt. Larry Qualls also responded to the scene.

Discussion with the suspects led to officers learning both were on probation and subject to search at any time. The officers also learned Rector was wanted on the two warrants.

When they tried to arrest Rector, he fled on foot for a short distance before a Taser was activated and the suspect fell to the ground. Once taken into custody, Rector was transported to Cumberland Medical Center to be checked out before being booked into the Justice Center.

The resulting search yielded a marijuana pipe, set of scales and a container with residue that tested positive for cocaine.

Charges are pending against the female and Rector.
