A Monterey area man has been arrested and charged with breaking into a woman's residence after the homeowner woke up to find the man in her house.
Brent Christopher Holme, 28, 451 Walker Hollow Rd., is charged with one count of aggravated burglary. Bond was set at $5,000 and he is to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court on July 17.
Nickie Landers of Finley Rd. told responding officers that she woke up June 17 and walked into her livingroom to find a man standing there. She asked him what he was doing and the man told the victim that he had climbed through a bedroom window to visit a daughter.
Landers instructed the intruder to leave and he left the area, according to Deputy Ron Moore's report.
Moore wrote that he found a lawn chair sitting next to a front bedroom window, with a large shoe print that is part of the evidence in the case.
When confronted, Holme reportedly told the deputy that he found the front door to the residence locked and, needing to gain access, climbed through the window.
Investigation is continuing.
