Tansi woman run over during assault

By Michael R. Moser

CROSSVILLE — A Lake Tansi woman on a shopping trip at a local business in Crossville was knocked down and run over in a shopping center parking lot after a confrontation with another woman that she said owes her money.

The incident took place Monday in the parking lot of Cumberland Square off Elmore Rd. shortly before 11 a.m., according to Ptl. Mitchell Phipps’ report.

The victim was identified as Samantha Wallace, 37, of Big Horn Dr. in Lake Tansi. The report states Wallace suffered scrapes and bruises on both legs and her back, both arms and hands and had been run over after being dragged by a car for a short distance.

Wallace told investigators that she had arrived in the shopping center to do some shopping at Kmart when she spotted a woman she knows only as Jennifer sitting in a car nearby. She approached the woman and asked her about $100 that she said the woman owed her.

The woman identified as Jennifer then allegedly grabbed Wallace, pulling her to the vehicle, as a second woman who was driving the car suddenly started to drive away, dragging the victim. After a short distance Wallace fell to the ground and her legs were run over.

Det. Elizabeth Henshaw and Sgt. Bart Riden were called to investigate the incident and to interview two eye witnesses to the assault.

No arrests have been made.
