CROSSVILLE — One man was arrested and two others are being investigated following the burglary of a garage on Smith Mountain Rd. and the theft of items, including an ATV.

Christopher Colin Fritts, 32, 106 Plemmins Rd., Rockwood, faces charges of burglary, theft of less than $10,000 and vandalism in connection with the incident, according to Deputy Dustin Jackson's report.

Deputies were dispatched to the 3300 block of Smith Mountain Rd. Saturday around 12:40 p.m. on a report of a burglary, but while still enroute, they received a second report that a four-wheeler taken in the breakin was being driven on Daysville Rd. The ATV had been spotted by a neighbor who became suspicious and was following the rider.

Jackson arrived at the intersection of Daysville Rd. at Hwy. 70 E and found the suspect, whom he took into custody. The victim informed deputies that the ATV was his and had been taken in the garage burglary, along with two game cameras.

Value of the property taken was placed at $4,250 with damage to the garage door and siding placed at $1,050.

The resulting investigation has led officers to believe that at least two other persons are involved with the crime.
