CCHS cheer competition approved

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County High School competitive cheer team will be representing the school and the community at the National High SChool Cheerleading Championship Feb. 8-9 at Walt Disney World in Orlando following approval of their field trip request by the Cumberland County Board of Education Jan. 23.

In other action, the following was approved:

•Addition of Alysa Medina and Donna McDermott to the Martin Elementary volunteer list.

•Addition of Hershell Brown Jr. and Trish Hawn to the North Cumberland Elementary volunteer list.

•"Mile of Pennies" fundraiser at Martin Elementary to support school improvement projects and student rewards.

•A positive behavior support fundraiser at Martin Elementary.

•Acceptance of a $750 VECustomers Share Grant to the Martin Elementary Junior Beta Club to fund transportation and convention fees for students to attend the state convention.

•South Cumberland Junior Beta Club to attend the state convention March 2-4.

•CCHS track team to travel to Calhoun, GA, March 22 for a track meet.

•CCHS FFA members to attend the Tennessee Cattlemen's Convention in Pigeon Forge Jan. 24-25.

•Addition of Jumpville in Cookeville to be added to the approved field trip list.

•A request for proposals for web hosting.

•Disposal of surplus property at CCHS, North Cumberland, South Cumberland, Stone Elementary and the school nutrition program.
