The Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Crossville Incorporated and the City of Crossville will host a celebration and community forum to kick-off the Downtown Project on Tuesday, Jan. 28, starting at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The Downtown Project will allow for the revitalization of downtown Crossville.
It is understandable that many Crossville citizens and specifically those business owners directly or indirectly affected may have questions regarding the project. "One of our concerns with a project of this size is to ensure consistent and clear communication of the scope and progress of the project," said City Manager David Rutherford. "This will be the first of what we hope will be regular, educational forums to ensure business owners and citizens have a direct communication link for the duration of the Downtown Project."
The focus of the project is to upgrade the existing infrastructure, which has been in place for a century; however, citizens will also benefit from aesthetic improvements as the roadways and sidewalks are replaced following the improvements.
The purpose of the Downtown Project Celebration & Community Forum is to celebrate the growth and improvement in Crossville and to address concerns from business owners and citizens. Representatives will be on hand to provide an update on the plans for the project as well as answer questions. "It is important to keep in mind that it will be necessary to update information on the Downtown Project as construction is happening," offered Rutherford. "The community forums will be one way that anyone concerned can keep current on the progress of the Downtown Project."
Monthly community forums will be offered once the project breaks ground. "We understand there will be questions, but we hope to limit miscommunication as much as possible," said Rutherford. "The project is vital to the continued vibrancy of downtown Crossville, replacing the existing infrastructure will allow the opportunity for our downtown favorites to continue to be successful and open the door for new business opportunities."
The Downtown Project Celebration & Community Forum will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28. It is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
