The Crossville Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Thursday morning at the Eagle Food Mart on Hwy. 70 E.
Amanda Crawford, a store employee, called police and reported the robbery Thursday morning just after 6 a.m., according to a report by SPTL. Mitchell Phipps.
Crawford stated she opened the store at 6 a.m. and turned off the alarm. She stated she then began counting money and approximately 10 minutes later a man dressed in "dark colored clothes" entered the store with a gun and demanded all the money.
Crawford said she then handed over the money drawer to the man. She said the man emptied the drawer into a white plastic bag.
According to the report, a surveillance video recording shows the man emptying the drawer into a white plastic bag and leaving the store with the money in the bag. Video also shows the man entering the store at approximately 6:12 a.m. He is wearing blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a black jacket with a hood pulled over his face and a black mask covering half of his face.
He is wearing black gloves and carrying a black pistol. As the man enters the building he approaches the counter where Crawford is counting the money, points the pistol at her, she hands him the money drawer, he empties it out into the white plastic bag and leaves the store roughly 18 seconds after entering.
The video then shows the man exit to the left and four seconds later a dark colored SUV leaves the parking lot heading east on Hwy. 70 E.
The robber got a total of $168.89, according to Phipps' report.
Crossville Crimestoppers is offering a reward in the case for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robber.
