CROSSVILLE — Jacob Allen Bennett, 26, of Cumberland County, has been identified as the suspect in Thursday's quadruple slaying. He is being held on an unrelated parole violation charge at this time, but District Attorney Randy York said he intends to call a special grand jury to present evidence against Bennett in the shooting death of four Cumberland County residents.
Bennett was taken into custody around midnight CDT in Rhea County, with the cooperation of multiple law enforcment agencies.
Danielle Jacobson, 22, was identified as the driver of the vehicle found Thursday morning on a side road off Renegade Parkway shortly before 7 a.m. The three passengers were identified as 17-year-old Steven Presley, 17-year-old Dominic Davis and 16-year-old John Lajeunesse.
Investigators have confirmed the four died of gunshot wounds.
Davis was a student at Cumberland County High School. Presley graduated from Phoenix School in May 2013. Lajeunesse is a former student of CCHS and Stone Memorial High School. He had been a homeschool student this academic year.
All high schools in the county have grief counselors on site today offering support to students and staff.
