A Crossville man arriving to deliver a purchase to a city business interrupted a burglary in progress, causing the suspect to flee from the scene on foot.
The incident occurred Dec. 28 around 6:40 p.m. at The Diner on Keyes St., according to Ptl. Jonathan O'Neal's report. No one was injured in the incident.
The victim reported he left the diner around 4 p.m. to do some shopping and returned later to place some grocery items in the kitchen area. The victim reported hearing a side door close and went to the door in time to see a man running toward the Krystal's parking lot.
The victim told police he suspected the intruder thought he was a female employee until he put his hood down. That is when the victim realized someone was in the business and when the intruder fled.
Nothing was reported missing and no damage was done to the property.
