Wood, Huneycutt named to administrative posts in school system

CROSSVILLE — Newly appointed Director of Schools Donald Andrews has named administrators to serve in the Cumberland County School System.

Rebecca Wood, who has been working in the school system as an instructional facilitator, has been named assistant director of curriculum instruction and accountability. Her background includes teaching, working as a principal and the instructional facilitator position.

A new face will join Cumberland County with the hiring of Susan Huneycutt as the assistant director of human resources. Huneycutt has served as principal of Trinity Elementary School in the Randolph County, NC, school system.

Under a preliminary organizational plan presented to the Cumberland County Board of Education at its May 23 meeting, Wood would be responsible for supervising elementary and secondary curriculum, instruction and accountability, federal programs, career and technical education, special education, technology and attendance and school principals.

Huneycutt would work with personnel and principals on human resources and administrative services matters.

Both will begin their new positions July 1, 2013.

Andrews had posted a vacancy announcement for a chief financial officer for the school system.

The chief financial officer posting states candidates must have a minimum of an associates degree in finances. The deadline for applications was June 3.
