A Crossville man who on Dec. 16 pleaded guilty to drug charges four days later reported to police that he had been assaulted with a television set in the room where he was staying at a local motel, according to police reports.
Brandon Lee Stanley, 26, who listed room 43, Inn of the Cumberlands, as his address, refused a trip to Cumberland Medical Center's emergency room after police called an ambulance to the scene shortly before midnight Saturday, according to Ptl. Mark Steinmann's report. Stanley reportedly had bruises to his arms, wrists and head and had injuries to his face, the report stated.
Stanley is quoted as stating in the report that he saw two men standing outside his room and that he slightly opened the door to investigate. When he did, the two men pushed their way into his room and commenced to beating him, eventually picking up a television and hitting Stanley with it. The two men fled in a light blue Ford Ranger pickup.
According to the report, Stanley told police he did not know the identity of his assailants.
On Dec. 16, Stanley pleaded guilty to possession of less than .5 grams of methamphetamine and was given a three-year prison sentence he is to begin serving on Jan. 9.
It is not known if the assault and the recent court case are related.
