Fatal April shooting results in indictment

By Michael R. Moser / mmoser@crossville-chronicle.com

The fatal April 24 shooting of a Cookeville resident at a residence on Hwy. 70 N has resulted in a grand jury indictment handed down Nov. 3, according to court documents.

James Leroy Poston, 74, of 3187 Hwy. 70 N, was indicted by the grand jury on a single count of second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Jimmy D. Conatser, 40, of Ridgedale Rd., Cookeville.

Conatser was a Cumberland County native.

Sheriff's investigators have not commented on the shooting incident since it took place April 24 at the Poston's residence. It is believed the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute and that the victim may have married a family member of Poston.
