Crossville incumbents win easily; package liquor sales OK'd

A record number of voters in Cumberland County — 26,213 or 68.15 percent of all registered voters — turned out Tuesday to approve a liquor referendum, return two incumbent city councilmembers to the Crossville City Council and to elect a new mayor in the Town of Crab Orchard.

Meanwhile, as the final numbers in Cumberland County were being totaled, Republican Presidential candidate John McCain conceded the election to Democrat Barrack Obama in what was surely a historical day for the nation.

Cumberland County voters, however, favored McCain over the president-elect.
