Counterfeiting charges filed against another man

Crossville Police have arrested another person in connection with the passing locally of counterfeit bills, this time seizing the suspect's vehicle, a printer and other evidence.

Ronald S. Thacker, 44, who provided police with a 3220 Kenross Ave., Nashville address, but had been staying with his father on Woodlawn Rd., was arrested last weekend after he allegedly passed counterfeit bills at several locations in the city.

Thacker is charged with criminal simulation (counterfeiting), possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a revoked license.

Police were first alerted to a problem at Plateau Lanes on Hwy. 70 E where an employee reported a man in a white 1991 Dodge Ram van had just passed a counterfeit $20 bill at the bowling alley.

Ptl. Hammon caught up with the suspect at JP's NASCAR Store on Peavine Rd. where he took the man into custody as the investigation unfolded.

Thacker was read his Miranda rights and declined to talk to police.

Lt. Brian Tilley and Sgt. Bart Riden arrived on the scene and during an inventory of the inside of the van, police recovered counterfeit $20 bills passed at Just One More Sports Bar and the bowling alley, as well as counterfeit bills inside the van. All bore the same serial number.

In the rear of the van police recovered a Canon copier and an item with Thacker's name and a Woodlawn address. Police went to the address and made contact with Thacker's father who gave them permission to search the residence.

Beneath a table police recovered two trash bags containing sheets of paper with counterfeit bills printed on them.

Those bills bore the same serial number as the bills passed locally.

All bogus money was seized.
