TDOT meetings to focus on impacts of 127 project

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has scheduled two National Environmental Policy Act public hearings to discuss U.S. 127 from Interstate 40 in Crossville to Hwy. 62 at Clarkrange, and the potential impacts of all alternatives. The hearings will be Dec. 4 at North Cumberland Elementary School from 6 to 8 p.m. and Dec. 6 at South Fentress Elementary School from 6 to 8 p.m.

The hearings are being held to provide the public an opportunity to comment on the project and the recently approved Draft Environmental Impact Statement. A brief presentation will be made, followed by a question and answer period. Representatives of TDOT will be available to assist with the exchange of ideas and to provide information on various aspects of the project. Anyone with questions regarding the meeting should contact Ann Andrews, project manager, 505 Deaderick St., Suite 600, James K. Polk Building, Nashville, TN 37243-0341, call (615) 741-5360, or e-mail Ann.Andrews@state.tn.us.

The Draft Environmental Impact Statement was approved by the Federal Highway Administration Sept. 20. Copies of this document are available for public inspection at the locations listed below. Comments regarding the statement should be sent within 45 days of this publication to Mr. Charles Bush, transportation manager II, TDOT, Environmental Division, 505 Deaderick St., Suite 900, James K. Polk Building, Nashville, TN 37243-0334.

The Draft Environmental Impact Statement is available to the public at the Art Circle Public Library in Crossville, the Fentress County Library in Jamestown and the office of Mr. Jim Johnston, transportation manager, TDOT, Region 2 Design Office, P.O. Box 22365, 4005 Cromwell Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37422, or call (413) 892-3430.

A court reporter will be available to receive oral statements to be included in the project transcript. In addition, comment sheets will be available for those who prefer to make written statements. Written statements and other exhibits to be included in the project transcript may be submitted within 21 days after the meeting date to the following address: Project Comments, Tennessee Department of Transportation, Suite 700, James K. Polk Building, 505 Deaderick St., Nashville, TN 37243-0332.

Persons with a disability, who require aids or service to participate at the meeting may contact Margaret Mahler no less than 10 days prior to the date of the meeting by writing TDOT ADA and Safety Coordinator, Suite 400, James K. Polk Building, 505 Deaderick St., Nashville, TN 37243, or e-mail Margaret.Z.Mahler@state.tn.us, or call (615) 741-4984, or (615) 253-8311 for TTY Relay.
