County approves drug fund transfer, appointment to E-911 board

By Gary Nelson / gnelson@crossville-chronicle.com

Cumberland County commissioners approved a budget amendment of $36,000 to the Drug Control fund for the sheriff's department during last week's meeting.

The funds will be used to upgrade the department's computer system and implement substations for use in drug control activities. The money will come from the undesignated fund balance.

A motion from 2nd District Commissioner Robert Safdie was supported by 2nd District Commissioner Nancy Hyder and it was unanimously approved.

In other areas commissioners voted to appoint Amy Cox as a member of the board of directors to the Cumberland County E-911 Emergency Communications District for a term of four years beginning Sept. 22, 2009 and ending Aug. 31, 2013.

Seventh District Commissioner Kenneth Carey motioned for the approval and it was supported by 9th District Commissioner Clyde Cramer. Ninth District Commissioner and Commission Chairman Carmin Lynch passed on the vote. Cox was approved in a 16-1 vote.

Commissioners also approved making a $5,000 donation to the Pleasant Hill Historical Society of the Cumberlands to go toward repair work to be performed on the exterior of Pioneer Hall Museum in Pleasant Hill. It was unanimously approved after 1st District Commissioner Jim Inman motioned for approval. It was supported by 3rd District Commissioner Lynn Tollett.
