A Cumberland County woman has been arrested in connection with the attempted arson of a Lake Tansi residence that occurred Monday night, according to reports.
Teresa Gail Walker, 43, 8688 Vandever Rd., was placed under $20,000 bond following her arrest less than three hours after the incident occurred. She is to appear in General Sessions Court on Sept. 15 to answer to the felony charge.
Cumberland County Fire Department and the sheriff's department plus Lake Tansi Security were dispatched to the Sean Trail residence on Moonbeam Trail minutes before 8 p.m. Monday after a neighbor reported seeing a 1989 Dodge D-15 pickup leaving the residence after fire broke out. The back porch was set on fire. It is unknown the amount of damage caused by the blaze but it is not believed that the residence was rendered unlivable.
Lake Tansi Security Officer Paul Ganzer made contact with the eye witness who saw a woman flee from the scene. A description of the vehicle was broadcast to area law enforcement agencies but Ganzer found the suspect sitting on the porch of a residence just a few houses from the scene.
She was taken into custody, questioned at the Justice Center and later charged.
