Running stop sign nets rolling meth lab; one charged

— A motorist who failed to stop for a stop sign drew the attention of a Cumberland County sheriff's deputy and the resulting traffic stop netted law enforcement the arrest of one and the seizure of a clandestine methamphetamine lab, according to an arrest report.
John Everett Barnwell, 37, 4084 Springwater Circle, Lake Tansi, is charged with manufacture, delivery or sale of a controlled substance and possession of a schedule II drug, identified as crystal methamphetamine, according to K-9 Officer Al Seitner's report. Barnwell was placed under $11,000 bond and appeared in General Sessions Court last Monday. The case was continued until Sept. 20.
Seitner wrote that he stopped a 1992 Honda for running a stop sign on Claysville Rd. at the Pomona Rd. intersection. During the resulting traffic stop, a clear plastic bag containing a clear white color was found in a cigarette pack, along with a glass pipe with burnt residue.
A trash bag was found in the trunk of the vehicle containing components used in the illegal making of meth.
Barnwell was arrested without incident.
