Man who skipped out on jury's verdict indicted

July session results in dozens of charges

The man who sat through hours of testimony and then skipped out before learning how a jury verdict ruled on his case has been indicted by the grand jury on a felony charge, according to court records.

Gary Thomas Reed, 35, Moonlight Trail, DeRossett, didn't hang around long enough to learn what a jury had decided in his methamphetamine manufacturing case.

In June 2007, Cumberland County sheriff's deputies raided property Reed rented and recovered components commonly associated with the clandestine manufacture of meth.

This spring Reed went on trial and a jury heard testimony for the better part of a day. When the jury retired to deliberate, Reed left the courtroom and never returned. He was apprehended some time later in Algood and returned to Cumberland County.

The jury assessed Reed a $100,000 fine and a sentencing hearing is set for Aug. 19.

•Charles D. Sprunger, no age or address available, aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

•Donald Iwao Miyahara, 70, 231 Long Dr., July 8/aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor with bond set at $5,000.

•Christopher Oran Kolhepp, 18, 52 Woods Dr., Monterey, July 8/rape with bond set at $10,000.

•James Jeremiah Pugh, 37, 7424 Hwy. 127 N, July 8/possession of methamphetamine for resale and possession of marijuana for resale with bond set at $20,000.

•John Joseph Thompson, 37, 245 Elizabeth St., Crab Orchard, July 7/burglary and theft less than $10,000 with bond set at $20,000. Also, aggravated burglary, theft less than $10,000 and vandalism with bond set at $25,000. And, aggravated burglary and theft less than $10,000 with bond set at $20,000.

•Eric Floyd Manning, 28, 28 Pine Dr., July 7/aggravated burglary, theft more than $10,000, theft less than $500, forgery, attempting to pass a forged instrument and passing a forged instrument with bond set at $90,000.

•Delbert Wade Smith, 50, 2155 POW Camp Rd., July 11/assault with bond set at $5,000.

•Rita Denise Bohannon, 35, 7424 Hwy. 70 N, July 8/possession of a schedule II drug and possession of a schedule VI drug with bond set at $20,000.

•Jeffrey Randall Allen, aggravated burglary and evading arrest.

•Scotty Lee Berry, theft more than $1,000, felony evading arrest, vandalism more than $500 and driving on a revoked license. Also, theft more than $1,000 and vandalism less than $500.

•Arthur Charles Elmore Jr., carjacking.

Forgery or fraud

•Donathan Gene Davis, two counts of passing a forged instrument. Also, forgery and passing a forged instrument. Also, fraudulent transfer of a motor vehicle.

Assault charges

•David Lee Fish II, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with serious bodily injury.

•Gregory L. Davis, two counts of domestic assault.

Driving under the influence

•Pamela Jo Kelley, driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and no proof of insurance.

•Alan Dewayne Light, sixth offense driving under the influence, fourth offense driving on a revoked license and refusing to take an intoximeter test. Also, sixth offense driving under the influence, fourth offense driving on a revoked license and refusing to take an intoximeter test.

•Robert James Murphy Jr., driving under the influence and refusing to take an intoximeter test.

Methamphetamine

•Katrina Marie Mosley, promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine.
