One man faces charges he attacked an acquaintance with a billy club and a knife and the would-be victim in the case was arrested after he allegedly admitted to destroying the knife used in the assault on him, according to sheriff's department reports.
Robbie Collins, 45, Bullock Trailer Park, faces felony counts of reckless endangerment and aggravated assault for his role in the incident that took place last Monday around 2:30 p.m.
Tony Gene Miller, 40, 223 Lawson Rd., is charged with tampering with evidence. Both men were scheduled to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court yesterday.
Deputies were dispatched to Bullock Trailer Park on a report of a fight with weapons involved in progress and arrived to find that Miller and witnesses on the scene alleging that Collins had attempted to stab Miller with a knife and to strike him with a club. Miller told Deputy David Bowman that he was able to get both weapons away from Collins.
Collins was escorted to Cumberland Medical Center where he was treated for injuries suffered in the incident and then was taken to the Justice Center where warrants for the assault were issued and served. He was placed under $4,000 bond.
Miller told Bowman that he was visiting in the trailer park when Collins came to the trailer he was at and attacked him. No reason for the assault was given to investigators. During the course of the probe, Bowman asked where the knife used in the attack was and Miller told the officer that he has broken the blade off after wrestling it away from his assailant.
Miller was then taken into custody and served with the tampering charge.
