Veterans Service Officer Mark Daniels presents Gerald Holloway with the Vietnam Campaign Medal with two bronze stars and the National Defense Medal during Friday's event. Holloway, who served with the U.S. Army 1967 through 1968, never received these medals when he was discharged. He said, "I have a couple of grandchildren, and I hoped one day they would get them. This is very humbling." Joining Holloway for the presentation were Zelm Hamby, Carrie Smith, Nathan Smith and Payeton Smith.

The Cumberland County Young Marines demonstrated the proper way to fold a flag during the event. The flag was then presented to Mark Daniels, Cumberland County veterans service officer.
