Suspect held in vehicle burglary

A Cumberland County man has been charged in connection with the burglary of a vehicle parked outside a Fairfield Glade restaurant, according to the sheriff's department.
Deputy Cpl. Jason Elmore identified the suspect as Michael Wayne Lewis, 27, 167 Berkshire Loop, who is charged with one felony count of burglary. He was placed under $2,500 bond and is to appear in General Sessions Court on July 13.
Law enforcement officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Legends Restaurant on report of a man burglarizing vehicles and arrived to find a suspect on the scene with a backpack.
A patron of the restaurant was summoned outside and was asked to identify the backpack, which he claimed. Inside the backpack were a .40 caliber Glock handgun, scope, ammunition, iPod and iPod tuner and other items, according to Elmore's report.
Total value of items taken and recovered was placed at $1,145. Lewis was taken into custody without incident.
