DA recognized as Patriotic Employer

District Attorney Randy York was recognized as a Patriotic Employer by the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The award was presented by Larry O’Rear, Col. (U.S. Air Force, retired) earlier this month.  Capt. Gary Mckenzie, a member of York’s staff, will be deploying to Iraq June 24 with the 194th Engineering Brigade in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Captain Mckenzie is a JAG officer for the Tennessee Army National Guard and is an Assistant District Attorney for York in the 13th Judicial District.

 “It is important to have employers such as Randy York who support our citizen soldiers in their service” Ret. Col. Larry O’Rear stated. “York leads by example in his dedication to liberty and freedom,” commented Col. O’Rear.

“Randy has helped my family and I get ready for this difficult transition by making my move from civilian life to military life seamless. He has personally taken it upon himself to do the necessary work to have my civilian job waiting on me when I return. I am lucky to have him as an employer and more importantly as a friend," said Mckenzie.

“I am proud of Gary’s service and wish him well on his deployment. The sacrifice that these men and women make is immeasurable and it is my privilege to help in any way that I can.  I take their sacrifice very serious and that is why today I am signing a statement of support for the Guard and Reserve.”
