A Cumberland County man has been arrested and charged with assaulting a Crossville man during an alleged assault that took place last week, according to Crossville Police Department reports.
John Fielding Dickens, 33, 940 Old Hwy. 70, is charged with the single felony count of aggravated assault. The victim in the case was identified as Steven Eric Brown, no age available, Rachel Dr., according to Ptl. D. Hammons' report.
The report states that last Tuesday city police were dispatched to Marantha Lane shortly before 6 p.m. on a fight call and arrived to find Brown bleeding from a knife wound to the left elbow area.
Brown and three witnesses told police that Dickens arrived at the residence and began shouting at Brown's girlfriend, LeAnne Russell. Witnesses said Dickens had a razor knife in his hand.
When Brown stepped between the two and asked Dickens to leave, witnesses said, Dickens allegedly "came at him with it (the razor knife) stabbing him in the elbow area," the report stated.
Brown was able to knock the weapon out of his assailant's hand and forced Dickens to the ground. Dickens then reportedly got up and left the area in is vehicle.
He was apprehended a short time later by Cumberland County sheriff's deputies at his residence.
A hearing will be held in General Sessions Court.
