An Alloway community man suffered a serious leg injury when he was involved in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Friday, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department.
Jerry Rice, 35, Hwy. 68, was airlifted to The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville from near the scene of the crash that occurred around 7:20 p.m. east of the Hwy. 68 and Alloway Rd. intersection, according to Deputy Roy Phipps' report. Rice reportedly suffered a compound fracture to his leg.
Rice told officers he was riding a dirt trail bike on his property and was attempting to jump over the top of a hill when he lost control on the landing, causing the motorcycle to nose dive into the ground and causing Rice to be thrown from the motorcycle.
His injury was reportedly not life threatening.
