Trio charged with possession of ingredients for methamphetamine

A motorist who performed a U-turn in front of a Crossville Police Officer to enter a service station parking lot ended up traveling to jail, along with his two passengers. All three were charged with promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The incident happened last Wednesday around 3:15 a.m. on Elmore Rd. at the Elmore Shell station. Police also seized a 2006 Dodge Stratus.

Nathan James Payne, 22, 1925 Roslin Rd., Jamestown, was the driver. He and his passengers, Christopher Nicholas, 29, 340 Cinnamon Circle, Crossville, and Whitney Nicole Robbins, 19, 579 Sandy Creek Rd., are all charged with the promotion charge.

Mptl. Jon Wirey wrote in his report he was on routine patrol on West Ave. when he spotted the Dodge do a U-turn and travel to the Elmore Rd. convenience store. He stopped the vehicle and was in the process of issuing a citation when Sgt. Bart Riden arrived on the scene with his drug detection dog. The dog alerted to the presence of narcotics and a consent to search the car was obtained.

In the vehicle police said they recovered 85-plus matchbook striker plates that had already been stripped, a small plastic bag of red phosphorous and four Seroquel pills.

The trio were then charged with promotion of the manufacture of meth.
