Statutory rape among three felonies filed against county man

A Cumberland County man was arrested last week on three felony counts including a charge that he had sex with and got a 15-year-old girl pregnant, according to sheriff's department arrest documents.
Justin Alan McCormic, 37, 518 Crestview Dr., faces charges of aggravated statutory rape, burglary and theft more than $30,000 in connection with a string incidents that appear to be related, arrest reports and arrest warrant affidavits states. He was placed under $74,000 and faces a hearing in General Sessions Court on May 5.
McCormic was arrested April 24 at his home without incident by Sheriff's Investigator John Haynes, who filed a short statement and the charges against MCormic.
Haynes wrote in his arrest affidavit that between the date of March 9 an March 23 McCormic allegedly was involved in sexual relations with a girl who was 15-years-old at the time. The affidavit continues to read that the victim had a child by the defendant prior to her 16th birthday.
The burglary charge stems from a March 23 break-in at a Warpath Dr. address in Lake Tansi where the victim lives. The affidavit accuses McCormic of cutting a screen and breaking a lock to game entry to the residence. Once inside, the suspect is alleged to have stolen about $3,000 worth of property.
The theft charge stems from the taking of a 2007 Toyota Matrix valued at $30,000 from the same residence.
