Fairfield Glade's long-time chief of security is one of seven applicants for the vacant position of chief of police for the city of Monterey, the Herald-Citizen reported last week.
Charles H. Seiber, who is also a Cumberland County Commission member, has worked for Fairfield Glade since 1977 and became chief of the department several years ago when Jack Cole retired.
Former chief Bruce Breedlove was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in 2006 while on vacation out west and has been unable to return to his job. The city, after over a year, declared a vacancy and the town's civil service board solicited applications for the job.
In addition to Seiber, those applying include Tim H. Murphy, who has been serving as acting chief and formerly was a detective sergeant in the department; White County Deputy Sheriff Richard A. Lynch; White County Chief Deputy Agustin Clemente Jr.; Overton County Sheriff's Deputy Max Goodpaster; and former deputy sheriff in Alabama and Mississippi Jimmy C. Taylor.
The newspaper reported that no time table for interviews has been established.
