A Crossville man is claiming that a former employee and his brother accosted him in a parking lot at a local convenience store, accused him of stealing money from their sister, and then beat and robbed him.
Police responded to the parking lot of Mr. Zip's on Peavine Rd. Tuesday around 4 p.m. after Gregory Davis, 34, McLarty Lane, reported the incident to emergency dispatchers.
The victim gave police the names of two local brothers who he said approached him in the parking lot and accused him of taking $80 from their sister. When the victim denied taking the money, the two men started punching him in the mouth and slamming him against his pickup truck, Ptl. Steven Houston quoted the victim as stating. A friend of the victim, who witnessed the incident, was also attacked and thrown into the side of the 2003 Ford Ranger pickup, causing damage to the vehicle.
The victim accused his assailants of also threatening to set fire to his workshop. The two fled before police arrived.
The victim went to Cumberland Medical Center's emergency room for treatment of injuries. Police advised him to speak to a judicial commissioner about obtaining warrants for the two assailants.
