Man charged after alleged stabbing

— A Crossville man was charged with aggravated assault Monday evening after he allegedly cut his friend's throat with a collector's knife after the two got into an argument.
Billy Junior Pigg, 51, 70 School St., was arrested and held under a $10,000 bond at the Cumberland County Justice Center after the incident.
Scottie Hood told investigating officers with the Crossville Police Department that he and Pigg got into an argument and Pigg had cut his throat with a knife at his residence at 72 Wakefield Dr.
"Both Mr. Hood and Mr. Pigg had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on their person," Crossville Patrolman D. Harris reported.
Harris reported there was an emptied fifth of vodka at Hood's residence and a gallon of brandy which had been partially consumed was at the neighbor's residence at 86 Wakefield, where Pigg had fled after the stabbing incident.
Pigg reportedly told Harris that he did cut Hood's throat, but that Hood pulled a .22 caliber pistol on him and that was the reason he cut him.
Harris reported that Pigg reportedly threw the knife into the yard next door of 86 Wakefield Dr. Police reportedly found the knife which was allegedly covered with Indian designs on the handle and blood on the blade.
Harris reports that after searching the area at 72 Wakefield Dr. he did not discover any .22 caliber pistol. Hood's wife, a witness at the home, told officers the two were arguing and she heard Pigg threaten Hood that he was going to cut his throat.
She called 911 after she looked back and discovered her husband bleeding from his neck and seeing blood on the end of the knife. Pigg reportedly fled the home then and went to the neighbor's residence.
Hood was transported to Cumberland Medical Center for treatment of a "one-inch laceration that required six stitches," according to Harris's report.
Pigg faces a Jan. 19 hearing in General Sessions Court.
