Playhouse to host ceremony to honor Dr. King

January 05, 2009 04:35 pm

The Celebrating Diversity Council invites the community to honor the memory of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 1-2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 19, at the Cumberland County Playhouse.
The theme for this eighth annual honoring of Dr. King is "Heart of Tolerance."  Tolerance is respect, acceptance and appreciation of our world's cultures. Come and explore Dr. King’s ideas of tolerance with the youth of Cumberland County as they present this year's memorial of Dr. King through song, dance, music, and verse.
The Playhouse's director of education, Nicole Begue, along with many of her theatre education students, have produced the program. Groups performing include the CCHS advanced choir, Lyrica Dance, Showstoppers and many more!
The Celebrating Diversity Council sponsors this community celebration. The council carries on the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by inspiring the Cumberland County community to respect, understand, and celebrate all peoples and cultures.
