Francis Michael Sullivan, 85, of Crossville, passed away April 30, 2008. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday, May 27, at Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors. A military chaplain will officiate.
Mr. Sullivan was born April 25, 1923, in Larchmont, NY, the son of Francis and Helen Sullivan.
He was a staff sergeant in the 334 Bomb Squandron 95 Bomb Group in the U.S. Army Air Corps, was a prisoner of war during World War II and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and the EAME Ribbon with a Bronze Star. He was employed as an auto body repairman before retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Sullivan of Crossville; son, Francis Michael Sullivan III and wife Cathy of Monroe, CT; daughters, Maureen Selk of Crossville and Kathleen Hovater and husband Joseph "Gerald" of Lake City, TN; grandchildren, Christopher Selk, Timothy Sullivan, Jessica Davis, Jason Hovater, Joe Hovater, Jesse Hovater, Daniel England and David England; great-grandchildren, Kristin Selk, Gwen Sullivan, Aiden Davis, Brayden England and Sullivan Jude Davis; sisters, Mary Ellen Tucker and Patricia F. Nale; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and John Sullivan.
The Veterans Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Elks Club Veterans Fund, 1145 Genesis Rd., Crossville, TN 38555.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
