Threads of Hope fashion show inspires Lake Tansi Women’s Club

CROSSVILLE — The Threads of Hope Thrift Store brought a fashion show to the Lake Tansi Women’s Club on March 5. Threads of Hope is a non-profit that provides proceeds and items to the House of Hope and the drug endangered, abused and at-risk children of Cumberland County.

“All the money from Threads of Hope go toward House of Hope to take care of Cumberland County’s children who are displaced or endangered," said Joan Coffey, Women’s Club program director. “It is a very, very good cause."

The Threads of Hope Thrift Store volunteers handled the entire fashion show and the members of the Lake Tansi Women’s Club were the models. Lucy Parrott, club member and model, said, “I thought it was really well organized and the decorations were grand. The fashions modeled were wonderful and price-wise. You can dress up for nearly nothing!”

“[Threads of Hope] is a very good place to go for wonderful fashions,” Parrott continued. “And the store serves a great cause.”

Women’s Club President Judi Hartman said, “In the 1950s and '60s you could walk in to a place of business and the employees would ask, ‘Can I help you? Is there something you are looking for in particular?’ You can’t get that kind of service just anywhere. But they are so helpful at Threads of Hope.”

Patt Sawchuck, Women’s Club member and self-proclaimed fashionista, shared her Threads of Hope story saying the volunteers there were so kind and so wonderful that she was inspired to become one and now volunteers at the thrift store.

The Threads of Hope Thrift Store is sure to put a new twist on frugal fashion. “They are a scale above ordinary thrift stores," stated Hartman. “And if you’ve never been, you really need to make a point to stop by their wonderful store.”
