Plan for a fun, busy Fourth of July

CROSSVILLE — 26th annual Lake Tansi Exchange Club BBQ fundraiser to be held on July 4

The Lake Tansi Exchange Club is hosting their 26th annual BBQ fundraiser on July 4 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m (or until sold out) at the Ms. Anna Belle O’Brien Pavillion, next to the Thunderbird Recreation Center. Meals are only $8 each, or two for $15, and include half of a BBQ chicken or smoked pulled pork, Bush’s baked beans, coleslaw, bread and dessert. Meat plates without sides will be available for $5 each.

The Lake Tansi Exchange Club supports the community and provides financial aid for the prevention of child abuse.

Come join us for the Fourth of July Cruise-In

The Memorial Day Cruise-In was such a success that we are going to do again on Thursday, July 4. The Cruise-In will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with registration beginning at 3 p.m.  Southern Rascals will once again take the stage at 7 p.m. There is going to be a lot of activities going on that day such as:

Hospice Ice Cream Social 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Activities 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (hole-in-one, putt-putt golf tournament, water balloon toss, three-legged sack race, chicken toss, hula hoop contest, egg in spoon race)

Inflatables for the kids

Lighted Boat Parade - Meet at Marina 7:30 p.m. Parade starts at 8 p.m. (Registration forms available at the POA Office and the Holiday Out Office).

Fireworks after dark.

The Quack Shack will once again be set up serving BBQ ribs, corn on the cob and all the fixings. 

So come out and join us for another fun filled day!

Second annual Tansi July 4 Boat Parade

Decorate your boat with lights and parade around the lake to show off.

Prizes will be given for first, second and third place.

Sign up at Tansi POA office or Holiday Out RV Park office. Deadline for registration is July 2.

Boats will line up in front of Tansi Marina at 7:30 p.m. Please line up in order by your number. Parade will start at 8 p.m. Place your number on the right side-front of your boat. If you can light up your number it will make it easier for the judges. We will have a lead boat, please stay in line and try to stay together. The celebration will start Friday, July 4th and continue through the weekend with family friendly activities and entertainment that is inspired by classic Americana fun.

    You may have heard that a neighborhood watch group is being established again in Tansi. After a recent break-in in our neighborhood, my wife, Paula, talked with Lt. Gary Howard of the Sheriff’s Department to see what we, as a neighborhood, could do to minimize crime in Tansi.

    Naval Master Chief Dennis Sassenger II, stationed in Hawaii, visited his father, our own Dennis Sassenger, in Lake Tansi. He was so impressed with the way he was treated as a guest and veteran at the golf course that he returned home and started the process of thanking us for the welcome and support he received.

    Memorial Day is a time to reflect upon those of our fallen troops who gave their lives to preserve America’s values and freedoms. To those soldiers and their families we give our greatest admirations and deepest appreciation. Knowing what Memorial Day is about gives reason to pause, to pray and to share in those hard won freedoms with family and friends.
