CROSSVILLE — The Lake Tansi Village Association held its monthly dinner meeting at the Thunderbird Recreation Center on Jan. 21. There was a wonderful and enthusiastic crowd turnout despite the icy conditions. The pot luck style dinner and desserts were, as usual, the envy of the county as the table was heavy-laden with a delicious smorgasbord. The T-Bird’s dining tables were decorated with snowmen, snow globes and winter figurines serving as the centerpieces, adding to the ambience of the association’s winter dinner.

Guest speaker and entertainer, Jay Fox, performed his favorite songs and provided interesting interludes and anecdotes about his life and travels. Fox wrote a book entitled Triumph Over Tragedy, telling of his unique life stories and experiences. A summary of events unforeseen and unimaginable which led up to the loss of his leg was published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Miracles Happen edition. Fox is also an evangelical singer and recording artist. His voice is favorable and comforting. When Fox speaks, all of the cultures of his past are reflected in his unique accent. Born in Bermuda, Fox began his life’s adventure. Triumph Over Tragedy takes its readers through Fox’s journey that eventually lead him to Crossville, Tn.

Lake Tansi Village Association members sang along with Fox has he sang oldies but goodies in his relaxing and tender islander way. Jean Saal, president of the association, said, “We were unsure if the weather would cooperate and people would be able to attend the dinner. But, when we talked to Jay [Fox] and he said he was packed and ready to set up, we hoped for a sizable crowd in spite of the weather. And the turnout was more than we ever expected. I am so happy everyone was able to join us tonight.”

The association hosts monthly events to enjoy local talent, holidays and each other. Dinner meetings are every third Tuesday of the month complete with guest speakers and entertainers, friends, food and good Lake Tansi fun.
