CROSSVILLE — The Lake Tansi Bass Club is really catching up! The Bass Club has been catching some nice large and small mouths and enjoying the increased competition with nine to 12 boats sporting per tournament. Having held four tournaments so far this season, the Lake Tansi Bass Club can only assume the catches and the competitions will only continue to get bigger.

At the club’s third tournament May 1, warm weather made for fine fishing. Casey Mullins and Fred Mullins took first place with an impressive weigh-in at 14.14 lbs. Second place was won by Carl Smith and Tracy Smith, just shy of tying for first with a weigh-in of 14.12 lbs. Jackie Cannon came in third place, managing to catch 11.55 lbs. by himself. The Big Fish went to Carl Smith and Tracy Smith, with a nice bass weighing 4.25 lbs.

As for the May 15 tournament, the weather dove straight into a rainy blackberry winter and anglers fought the wind and the cold. The full moon provided extra light for the Lake Tansi fisherman, but only after the cloud cover drifted off. When the wind died down, the fishing picked up. As cool as it was, the bass began to bite. In first place for the Bass Club’s fourth tournament were Carl Smith and Tracy Smith, who brought in their five fish limit weighing-in at 16 lbs. 10.5 oz. Second placers Robert Naramore and Danny Jones had five fish weigh-in at 12 lbs. 14.5 oz. Third place went to Don Moore and Jamie McCloud at 9 lbs. Ernie Young only caught one fish, but it was a beaut! Weighing in at 6.25 lbs., Young’s one fish not only won him the Big Fish for the tournament, but is also the leading contender for the Big Fish of the 2014 Lake Tansi Bass Club Season.

The Bass Club launches at 6 p.m. and weighs-in promptly at 11 p.m. every other Thursday. Tournaments five, six and seven are scheduled for May 29, June 12 and June 26. For additional information, contact Don Moore at (931) 484-8616.
