Lake Tansi members give of time, talents and dollars for community

CROSSVILLE — Many Lake Tansi Village members continue to volunteer their time, effort, and dollars to help our community retain the image it has achieved through the years.

In this article we would like to recognize just a few of those individuals and groups whose volunteer efforts we consider extraordinary and we invite others to join with them.

• Arlene Mercadante and all of our past and present security force and committee members:

Thank you for helping to keep us safe.

• Brenda Toodle and all who have volunteered and continue to do so through our recreation committee.

Over the past several years, more than $16,000 has been raised and much time spent to improve Lake Tansi Village recreation facilities and opportunities. Additionally, during the last three years, more than $8,000 has been collected for Hospice through these efforts.

• Carl Flanagan and those who donate through our lakes committee.

These donations help us enjoy our lakes, and will help restock 6,000 new fish to our Tansi lakes this year alone.

• Frank Thierry and all who donate through the FUNd Committee.

Over the past 13 years, the FUNd Committee has allocated more than $100,000 toward the implementation of 72 projects that have benefited the Lake Tansi community.

• Mike Ferry and the tireless efforts of all who donate through the Lake Tansi Exchange Club.

In addition to their goal of child abuse prevention, the Tansi Exchange Club supports many local nonprofit efforts and provides $8,000 per year in scholarship assistance to local graduates.

• Russ Conn and the Tansi Bandits.

Since 1993, this men’s golf league has donated more than $65,000 to local charities. This past season those efforts provided $1,500 for Hospice and $1,000 for Good Samaritans.

• Bill Matherly and the Tansi Skins

Taking the Bandits’ lead of setting aside one dollar from each of its participant’s daily entrance fees, the Skins have elected to allot those dollars toward the completion of a selected Lake Tansi Village Project each year. This year’s project will help with funding the new putting green to be constructed in the practice area.

• Sherrie Atkins and the 19th Hole Restaurant.

The 19th Hole has selected a popular entree on each of three nights (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays) and donates, through the FUNd Committee, one dollar for each sold.

And there are so many more.

Members at Lake Tansi Village are truly fortunate. It is no wonder that Lake Tansi Village is located in Tennessee. After all, it is full of Volunteers!
