Lake Tansi Panfish Club update

By Denver Hogston / Signals contributor

The first of two Panfish Rodeos was held on June 10, 2008. The tournament started at 7 a.m. with 15 fishermen and fisherwomen. First place was won by Fred and Gale Jacobs with 9 lbs. 4 oz. Second-place winners were Red and Joyce Morrow with 4 lbs. 12 oz. Third place went to Don Davis and James Alsip, with 3 lbs. 8 oz. Fourth-place winners were Marty and Susan McCoy, with a catch of 2 lbs. Prize money was paid by the POA. Thanks for sponsoring the event.

The next rodeo will be Sept. 16, 2-6 p.m., with weigh-in at 6 p.m. The tournament will begin at 2 p.m. sharp, no late entries. So, please be on time.

Tournament #6 was held on June 24. First place went to Denver Hogston and Denny Wunder, with 9 lbs. 11 oz. Good job (even if I say so myself)! Second place went to Don Davis and James Alsip with 6 lbs. 6 oz.

The big fish was a 1 lb. 3 oz. perch caught by Denny Wunder. Nice perch, Denny!

Again, I would like to invite the POA members to come out and fish with the club.

Tournament #8 was held on July 22. The club had six teams fishing with Team #2, Don Davis and James Alsip, taking first place and Team #1, Denver Hogston and Denny Wunder, taking second place. Big fish honors ended in a tie between James Alsip and Susan McCoy. Total weight for the tournament was 23 lbs. 7 oz.

Tournament #9 was on Aug. 5, with Evelyn Tanksley and Holly Hollingsworth taking first place with 6 lbs. 10 oz. (good job, ladies!). Denny Wunder and Denver Hogston came in second with 6 lbs. 4 oz. It was a close one but the ladies won. Big fish went to Don Davis with a 1 lb. 3 oz. perch. Denny Wunder also had a nice crappie at 1 lb.

The next tournament will be on Aug. 19 at 7 a.m.

Well, that's it for now. See you on the lake. Fish hard, be safe, and please remember to obey the laws of the water and be courteous to other fishermen. We do have a lot of fun. So long until next time.

Fish hard, be safe, and obey the laws of the water.
