Summer highlights from the Thunderbird center

By Terresa Davis / Signals contributor

Well summer is almost at an end! We have had a great summer here at the Thunderbird! The Fourth of July was a blast. The craft show was a great success and the vendors were pleased with their sales. We want to thank you for coming out and showing your support. The next craft show will be Oct. 17-18. So make plans to come and visit us.

We have been having fun a lot of fun on Music Night that features a guest singer. Be sure to check your calendars for the next one and come out and be a part of it. Show your support so we can keep this going.

The ice cream socials have also been a lot of fun as well. The next one is Aug. 30, at 4:30 p.m., with bingo and horse races to follow. Mark this on your calendar.

Crazy Days were a lot fun. We would like to thank Gary Mayo for taking pictures. Look for them here in this issue of the Smoke Signals.

Family crafts days have kept us very busy this year. We have made some great crafts with the kids. Thank you for coming to family crafts.

The beach cookouts have been great too. They will continue throughout August, so make plans to attend the beach cookout at the snack shack on Thursdays from 5-7 p.m.

We still have our regularly-scheduled events. The following is a list of activities that always take place so come have some fun!

Mondays: bridge and mahjongg, noon to whenever. Please RSVP Flo at 788-6570 for bridge,

Tuesdays: cards and games, noon to whenever. Check calendar for correct date, as it changes from month to month.

Wednesdays: bingo at 2 p.m. and then games at 3 p.m.

Thursdays: ladies meet at 9 a.m. to work on projects and guys meet at noon to play pool.

Fridays and Saturdays: Check calendar for correct night for bingo and games.

We would like to thank all of the staff at the snack shack for all they have done in providing food, snacks and drinks to the beachgoers. They have really worked hard. We would also like to thank all of our staff here at the Thunderbird and Hiawatha indoor pool. Thanks for all you as well as all of your hard work. We look forward to working with you next year.
