Roy and Georgia Tucker celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a Red Hat Diva reception hosted by their grandchildren on March 30, 2008, at the Tansi Community Church. Wedding vows were exchanged, officiated by Pastor Jeff Monday.
Special music was provided by Arnie Krebbs and The Joyful Sound Quartet, pianist Polly Romine, and the keyboard by Sylvia Hale.
The couple were married March 20, 1948, in Pine Knot, KY.
They met at a Halloween party at the Oak Ridge skating rink. It was love at first sight.The rest is history.
They married the next year and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where Roy found employment as a carpenter for Murphy Homes. He retired in 1990 after 40 years with the company. Georgia was a homemaker and a seamstress. They have two sons. Roger is retired after 35 years with The Kroger Co., and he still lives in the Cincinnati area. Charles, a 27 year veteran of the Marine Corps, retired as a lieutenant colonel and now lives in Houston, TX. There are seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Roy and Georgia have a wonderful time here at beautiful Lake Tansi. Roy's hobbies are gardening, woodworking, and metal detecting. Georgia enjoys cooking, sewing and crafts. They are members of the Tansi Community Church and both sing in the choir.
