The second annual Salvation Army Golf Tournament and Fish Fry will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Lake Tansi Golf Course. The tournament format will be a four-person scramble, and will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will also be a putting contest before the tournament starts. Those interested should come early.
The entry fee is $65 per person, which includes the green and cart fees, and the fish fry after play.
Hole sponsors are needed, and the fee is $100. As a sponsor, your name will be placed on a sign at the hole of your choice, and on the big sponsor banner at the Lake Tansi pavilion.
The event is sponsored by Callaway Golf and Thrivent Financial. Callaway will have representatives on hand with the latest in their golf equipment.
Team prizes are $400 for first place and $200 for second place. There are also prizes on all par 3s and longest drive.
Each player is also eligible for prizes in the "BIG Hole-In-One" contest. First prize is $10,000 cash. Other hole-in-one prizes include a $500 pre-paid Visa card, a Boze Home Sound System, and player’s choice of a Nike driver or set of irons.
There will be bluegrass music entertainment by “The Pint Size Pickers.”
For an application, or more information, contact or go by the Salvation Army Office, 2514 Lantana Rd., or call 788-3414, or e-mail: salarmycumbc@volfirst.net.
Proceeds from the event go to support two of our most important Salvation Army projects: to provide assistance to Cumberland County children who have been removed from their homes, due to abuse and neglect by their parents; and to aid our Cumberland County Armed Forces veterans in need.
The deadline date for entering the tournament is Aug. 5; sponsors must enter by Aug. 1.
