GENERALLY SPEAKING: From the desk of the general manager

By Dave Sutton / Lake Tansi general manager

Activity in Lake Tansi Village is on the increase. Golf leagues have begun, the Pan Fish Club has had their season-opening meeting, and work has begun to get the beaches, pools and playgrounds spruced up and ready for increased use. Yes, this is the time of year when the winter doldrums are replaced by the renewal of spring and the promise of summer.

Many of our year-round residents look forward to this time of year, because they moved here to enjoy the amenities available in Lake Tansi Village, and spring brings forth the opportunity to avail themselves of their favorite amenity. Some just enjoy the beauty of Tansi. This is a great place to call home. It is also a great place to visit and vacation, bringing me to the point of this writing.

Over the past three months, the board of directors and I have been queried by several residents as to what Lake Tansi Village is. Is it a resort? Is it a retirement community? Is it a residential community?

For certain, it is not a commercial community, or is it? Could there be an identity crisis? Not really, because Lake Tansi Village is all of those and more. Many people come to Tansi for a vacation and view it as a resort. About a third of our residents are retired, but, far and away, most residents of Tansi are families with a working parent or two.

The answer to the question is that Lake Tansi Village is what you need it to be. I know several residents who came to Tansi on vacations for many years before actually moving here full time. I know many others who live somewhere else, but come here to have a change of pace, but I know of many more that live in Tansi and go to work everyday in the

surrounding area. Like many other things in life, "It is what you make of it." I've mentioned many times that Lake Tansi Village is a community with a broad spectrum of socio-economic diversity.

The challenge of the POA is providing an equitable mix of recreational amenities to encourage membership in the organization. The POA strives to provide equal access of the provided amenities to all categories of membership, be it the casual user or full-time user, who resides in the village.
